Positano, situated in Campania on Italy's Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana), is a small and nearly vertical town. While prosperous many centuries ago, it now lives on as a unique tourist destination, favored by Americans and Europeans, celebrities, and day-trippers who take the ferry from Naples.A through highway, Strada Statale Amalfitana, also known as Via Guglielmo Marconi, separates the town into two parts, while a one-way loop called Viale Pasitea serves the lower part (sub Positano).
